Energizing and connecting congregations to proclaim the gospel and make disciples of Jesus Christ

Congo Mission Partnership

Indiana Welcomes Maman Nzeba

From her arrival at the Indianapolis airport on June 1 until she left for Quadrennial Assembly on June 21, Berthe Nzeba Kalombo blessed Indiana by sharing her life and ministry among women and children that have been devasted by war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Would You Like to Go to Congo?

The Congo Partnership Task Force is beginning plans for a second Hoosier Disciples delegation to visit our brothers and Sisters of the Disciples of Christ in the Mbandaka district of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The next step in this growing relationship is another trip to Mbandaka, in late spring or early summer of 2011. Participants will be clergy and laity, and we hope to have youth participation. Group size will be limited to nine, and the approximate cost will be $5,000.

If you are interested in being part of the 2011 delegation to Mbandaka, please download the guidelines and application. Questions? Contact Cheryl Cloar.

Video Available

Watch the Partners in Mission video

Attendees at the 2008 Regional Assembly at Purdue saw the video that shares the experiences and reflections of the delegation. Attendees also received a DVD containing the 12-minute video. Copies of the DVD were also mailed to each congregation.

You can watch the video or download a copy for your use.  The video is a very large file that will require approximately 10 minutes to download at DSL speeds.

Congregational Projects

Is your congregation looking for a project to help support our mission partners in the Congo?  The Division of Overseas Ministry has several ideas: education for young (child) mothers, pharmacy, cooking school and more.  Please download the document that describes the various project opportunities.

If your congregation or a group in your congregation decides to undertake one of these projects, please let us know so that we can share the news around the region.

For Study

Members of the Task Force are compiling a bibliography of books related to the Congo, its people and its history.  Some of these books have study materials available to facilitate conversations in study groups or Sunday school classes.  View the bibliography.
