Julie joined the Christian Church in Indiana ministry team in May of 2011 as Team Minister for Youth Ministry. She has previously served congregations in Kentucky and Georgia, primarily engaged in youth and young adult ministry.
Julie is a graduate of Berry College (B.A., 1997) and Lexington Theological Seminary (M. Div., 2002). She currently serves on the Leadership Team for the Disciples Youth Ministry Network (www.dymn.org) and has participated as counselor, director and/or featured speaker at a number of Disciples youth camps and conferences in Georgia, North Carolina and Kentucky. She is the co-editor of It’s Not All About You, a series of essays for and by young adults about what it means to engage in mission as a way of life. The book is the third in the Where’s the Faith? series produced by Chalice Press.
Julie is married to the Reverend David Brown, pastor of First Christian Church in Jeffersonville, IN (effective July 1, 2011) and they have one daughter, Madeleine. Julie treasures good books (Madeleine L’ Engle, Mary Oliver and Wendell Berry are her favorite authors), fine chocolate, dark roast coffee, and Indigo Girls and is always on the hunt for the perfect space in which to write.
